Continuous Casting Nozzle

With the advancement of steel manufacturing technology, the continuous casting nozzles are used to improve steel quality through anti-oxidation of molten steel by air between Ladle-Tundish and Tundish-Mold, being largely sub-classified into shroud nozzles, long stoppers and submerged nozzles.

1 Shroud Nozzle
  • · Used to prevent re-oxidation resulting from molten steel contacting the air in ladle ~ turndish in continuous casting.
  • · Called shroud nozzle, long nozzle or ladle shroud. Playing pivotal roles in steel quality improvement.
  • · Based on shapes, shroud nozzles are sub-classified into straight, taper and bell types. Reusable shroud nozzles are available, if conditions permit.
2 Long Stopper
  • · The molten steel flow control between turndish and mold in continuous casting involves stopper and slide gate types.
  • · Refractories for molten steel flow control by opening/closing the stopper are called stoppers. Also, Ar injection feature is added to prevent any inclusion adhesion.
  • · Based on fixing methods, stoppers are sub-classified into pin and nut types. Depending on Ar injection methods, stoppers are sub-classified into porous and hole type stoppers. Long stoppers are functional refractories significantly impacting on steel quality improvement through the molten steel flow control.
3 Submerged Nozzle
  • · Submerged nozzles engage in the final step of continuous casting process as the most important functional refractories in charge of anti-reoxidation of molten steel due to air contact in turndish~mold and flow control in molds.
  • · Based on fixing methods, submerged nozzles are sub-classified into stopper & slide gate types. Diverse features of steel quality control are added.
  • · Special functional nozzles are available if requested, e.g. ordinary submerged nozzles, Ar injection submerged nozzles, and ZrO2-CaO-C anti-clogging submerged nozzles.
